Well Ill run you through some things......
Get some music mix it, add a beat VERY easy, this is called techno, a very good song will take you 4-6 hours..... download Virtual DJ for a newbie, this will enable track mixes and extra additions, you can record ur songs in a mp3, or you can mix 2 rock hits and get urself well known......
Now da flash....
Flash is sensative, get on one persons nerves, say a clock crew you will get 15 people blamming you daily, giving you a shit score, say 3 GREAT flashes are

These all have ratings of 4.4 - 4.6 Im not sure what marks you want but they are amazing flashes, they have what the people want!
Ur batting average is around, 3~ish now another great author Appsro have about 4.3 batting ave. He makes Funny ass flash, HappyHarry Batting Ave. is about 4.45 Now his are funny, well drawn ____Getting the picture, for what you want, experiment with 8 or 16 bit but add humor, depth and seriousness go outside of your area, and christ sake, if you haven't buy a tablet, Im a successful flasher, this is my side account for fun (Sshhhh) And a tablet is worth it, I mean if trophies are what you are looking for, and 1 more thing Make flash cos its fun, not cos ur trying to be better than someone else on a stupid site ^^

First off, great job on the top ten! I never checked when I submitted Flash to see where I was...never really cared.
As what other people have said, come up with something completely different when using the sprites. Take the Captain R: The Game Ranger series for example. The scores are what they are because, not only are we running with our own story line, but we've changed things up with familiar characters. Even using Sonic and Shadow didn't hurt the animation because they aren't your typical personalities.
A MAJOR part of Flash animations, even for short ones, is story. I cannot stress it enough how important story is to an animation. Story is just as, if not more so, important than presentation. The Captain R series has a lot of story running with it and the presentation isn't bad, either.
Some animations can get by with a decent score using flashing visuals and such, but once people have seen those effects, the next animation tends to get a lowers score because it's, "Okay...we know you can make something flashy, but give us more!" That "more" is usually a deeper involved story. Proxicide recognized this and with each new SFvsMK installment, he got more character interaction heavy while still maintaining flashy fights.
Another thing to remember is that the time of your posting is going to make a huge difference. I don't think the Game Ranger animations would be where they are today or scored their initial rating had I just thrown it up there when I was done. Pick a good time when enough people are going to be able to watch and vote on it without it being pushed off the portal listing.
That's really all the advice I can give for you at this time. Make things smooth, have a story, add some voice actors (this helps a lot), use good music, and have a satisfactory presentation. Also, the most important thing to do is practice. I have nearly 20 animations I used simply to learn and practice things which I will never post on here.
